Important notice for bank transfers

Dear consumer,

Due to recent updates to payment verification systems, you may encounter an error message when making a bank transfer (e.g. “Payee could not be verified”). This message is related to a technical issue with the newly introduced payment verification process – not with the security of your payment or our account details.

You can still complete your payment safely. Please proceed as follows:

  1. Double-check the payment details and make sure that the Receiver name is entered correctly.
  2. If you see a message asking to verify the account name, and you have entered correct payment details: simply select the “Proceed anyway” option to complete your payment.

We are already working with payment service providers, who are also aware of this issue, on a permanent solution to this problem. Thank you for your understanding.

Do you want to use a different payment method?

In addition to bank transfer, we also offer you other payment options. Simply visit our payment page and choose the method that suits you best.

Please note: The current notices and possible error messages are related to the new Verification of Payee process, which has been introduced under new EU regulation.

What is Verification of Payee (“VoP”)?

Verification of Payee, also known as “VoP”, is a new requirement under the EU regulation for instant payments. By 9 October 2025 at the latest, all payment service providers in EU countries using the euro must implement this verification. The aim is to increase security in SEPA payments and to better protect consumers from fraudulent or misdirected payments.

From October 2025, Verification of Payee will be mandatory for SEPA transfers and will automatically check whether the  name of the payee and the IBAN-Number entered by the payer  matches the account details known to the payment service provider.

Important to know: Even if the payee’s name and IBAN-number do not exactly match the bank details, conclusion of the money transfer is still possible. In this case, you must actively confirm the payment (e.g. by selecting “Proceed anyway”).
